OUR HISTORY
We have been striving create a new positive image of Ethiopia since 1991.
Our activities in Ethiopia started when famous French volcanologist Haroun Tazieff asked us to organize the logistic for a television documentary on the Erta Ale volcano, in the Afar Region. This first fascinating expedition in this still largely unknown country, made us aware of its enormous cultural Heritage and tourism potential.

Half-day excursions
CHURCHES & SHRINES

There are over 140 churches and archaeological sites in the surrounding area ranging from historic rock-carved churches through to hermitages, shrines and ancient Sabean and Axumite sites.
Tours are facilitated by our knowledgeable guides who are familiar with the history of the shrines and the formalities required.

Full day excursions are made in a similar format as the half-day excursions. The tour leaves from the Lodge after breakfast with a packed lunch provided.

This is probably the best place to stay if visiting the Gheralta region, period. We ended up spending two nights in this new lodge as an alternative to the well-known and advertised Gheralta lodge. Bungalows are just spectacular, with a patio, a huge bedroom and super-clean bathroom. All bungalows are located in a very quiet garden.

Korkor Lodge is the best place to stay when visiting the fabulous ancient rock-hewn churches in the Gheralta Mountains. The lodge is comfortable, the food excellent and the owner/manager, Luigi, is exceptionally knowledgeable.

Korkor lodge was an amazing place! Really beautiful cabin/rooms, and in a location which gives a beautiful view of the mountains. Very close to many of the most famous rock hewn churches. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food was great. Highly recommend it!

We arrived later in the evening and although the kitchen was closed a staff member brought us dinner in our large room. The grounds were landscaped well and in the morning through large glass windows we watched birds. The shower washed off all the accumulated dust. A wonderful respite.
